Sometimes, when a heavy investment in art is necessary--the timing is right, the preconditions are met, many flow states are achieved, but it takes time and creates a certain distance--you have to ignore your cats more than you usually do. That doesn't go over especially well. They're the original mass shareholders and predatory board members. They don't give two fucks about your aspirations. It's kind of funny. Good thing they're so tiny.

What a depressing bunch of thoughts I had about corporate environments and what price does to value. Ugh. Ouch.

Well, people have to eat. And this world would not be this world without all the kinds there are filling and describing it.

At the very bottom of every one of us scurries a frightened animal. Bundle of unthinking expressive instincts. Its exertions play their part all the way to the top. The top prefers not to acknowledge this, giving the animal all the more leeway to express its instincts. The top prefers castles in the air, illusions of control, delusions of grandeur, and other empty vanities. Well, we all want to be able to think we're gonna eat a hot dinner every night for the rest of our long, perhaps endless lives.

Being human is no sin. What else should we expect ourselves to be? The more human we realize we are, perhaps the more human we will become. No use writing a program for it, in my opinion. Time will pass, and we will see what we make of ourselves. The river is full of opposing forces, but in the end, it all flows the same way.

Some say it's all coming down, and some say it's just firing up. This has been true for every society, through all recorded history. People, sane and deluded, educated and untutored, wise and foolish, say both of these things. Both of their predictions come true. The river flows.

It's ok to take the long view. Fuck 'em if they tell you no.

When you start paying very, very close--some would say, obsessive--attention to the flow of events in your life, especially when you are a person who sets febrile store by catching out the auspicious and correct moment to take action, you will notice that everything depends on the flow of energy. Since everything in the universe is made of light, including water, which is what we are made of, this is not in the end surprising.

For the last year, I have been waiting for the right time to get in touch with a certain old friend. Today felt right. I took action.

Also today, an old friend whom I decidedly did not want to speak with tried to get in touch. Though my instinct was to ignore this, I realized that the universe had put me in a characteristic bind; to keep the flow harmonic, I would have to accept this energy, given that I had sent some out. Shit's essentially Newtonian. Couldn't be more straightforward.

So I responded. I'm not pleased! I am grossed out and angry that I had to do that, and that I will have to squander further words, time, and feeling on this matter! Lord, I hope what I sent feels better to the person I sent it to. The universe being what it is--a balance-seeking thing that eternally collapses--it's up in the air, but the math is hopeful. Newton, remember.

Have a beautiful evening, folks.
