It's been difficult to write; not for lack of time and not because my brain has not been writing but because turning creative energy towards the physical act has largely resulted in painting and painting-related duties, like duct taping together a big cardboard cross so I can paint it and make some kind of sculpture of Christ to put on it as is my heraldric right and, for some idiot yet fundamental reason, my spiritual task.

Painting--really, working with pigment and other media, as I use a lot of different stuff--is more immediately helpful with the kind of psychic distress I am enduring. Words feel like a hard pull. Got a good flow going with the painting and the drawing and stuff.

Those words were ok, cuz they were about painting. But what now? Maybe I should write about my painting thoughts.

But I'm a fucking writer, guys. I write the word thoughts already. Everything else has to go through its own proper channels. Playing music, painting--these are not really word thoughts things to engage in for me. Describing what it is only goes so far.

Just feels good to put the color down and make the lines and shapes. What else is there? The mind goes to a place.

Yeah well guess what, I couldn't type for however the fuck long it's been since last post because my office became such a critical disaster of book mess all over and stuff for art and pieces in various states of transition and completion all over the fuckin place that I could not pick a path to the desk. It was not worth the trouble, and often, literally impossible.

Painting has taken precedence over everything else in my life anyway, the locus of all my directed energies. Sketching, speed-cartooning, mixed-media with garbage and oddments, collage, but most of all, just painting--on cardboard and salvaged pieces of wood, mostly. Hasn't felt this good or natural to be painting since I was a child. If a day contains the potential for plans or the attendance of duties, you can bet I have by and large ignored all that and spent as much of it as possible painting instead.

The last couple of days, though, I have been itching to write, as is also fundamental to my being--but I finally realize, perhaps to the detriment of the rest of my artistic impulses and needs. It is just as important to paint and draw and sing and whistle and play musical instruments. It is all as necessary to my writing and my writing is to me, and my writing feeds these things back in its turn. It is true! Must remember it. Must act on that knowledge and ply its power into my foundations and decisions.

Absolutely gotta remedy the office situation both for my mental health and the physical health of my books, as well as to accomodate all the art I have to store now and the need to have the materials in better organization. Found a piece of furniture on the sidewalk perfect for storing scraps and sheets and bits in, it's like an old wooden mailbox or in-tray for offices or libraries or whatever.

On that note, short post, must do something with the office before the cutoff imposed by having to get ready for work. It's cool. It's chill. I'll be around more often.

Got lots of ideas.

Don't know how I've suffered them this long, considering how I despise white and gray walls. The miserable--I had not realized how miserable!--gray kitchen is becoming orange. The back hall and half the living room, pale green. The other half and the stairwell, pale blue. Our bedroom and Ezra's office were already yellow and two deep tones of green, respectively. The spare room needs a color, as does my office, though the dozens of art pieces and stickers I've mounted all around are helpful. I may go with many colors. I know I will, actually.

But that's the last priority. For now, finishing the kitchen is still the thing.

Haven't talked about current events for a minute. It's a grim business, and I can do what I want, I know that--but this blog is not merely a humorist's diary or manifold spontaneous rough essay generator--and though the essays may be serious and historical, it is also not fundamentally the same as the blog's final purpose, which is to stand as something of a record of life experienced in the early blush of the twenty-first century's maturity. And that century is fucking batshit right now. The Things are Happening.

Those great, sweeping spasms history is sometimes seen to make are rippling like perhaps never before. Certainly the frequency is unprecedented, the speed of the thing.

Ok, look. Let's keep this simple. I have, in a previous post, commented on the perfect timing of the terrorist attack on Israel which has developed as it has, with every eye on the planet and the thing's gravity warping reality. The domestic side of that was the particular thrust of that comment, and that is what has played out most predictably, though Speaker Johnson's recent actions bucked the trend and are worth honorable notice. Nevertheless, the public demostrations and the reactions they have provoked at every level of our society are the crux of the matter, and that shit is spinning out of control and veering into the kind of unreason that anticipates martial law. With a dictator in the wings literally base at the ready and demonstrated influence over politics as they are happening, nothing could be more dangerous.

Basically, the soft power instruments leveled at the U.S. as early as 2009 and heavily beginning in 2012 are beginning to look as though their long-term efficacy is accomplished fact. The country may devolve and lose its standing in international affairs as well as its domestic stability and even political cohesion. Tech companies will only accelerate these multipolarizations because cooperation with competing interests will guarantee the kinds of influence and privileges they crave. This will cascade globally. Private security of every description will see booms in every sector as paranoia and uncertainty reign amidst increasingly chaotic and unchecked brigandry, governmental overreach, and prisonification. The nomad may once again rise to prominence in global affairs, realizing Deleuzian prophecy. Meanwhile the climate will collapse and the deaths of hundreds of millions will open terrain, change the tenor of migration, colonization, and land use priorities completely.

The crazy part is, some people's lives won't change at all. They'll just keep going to the store, I guess. If we survive in general, it probably won't even slow population growth that long or even noticeably.

Life do go on. No one knows what time has in store for them. All that I have said could well be baloney.

Baloney! I love that corruption.

All I can really do is make art and try to survive. It has worked so far. I shall stay the course. And after all, plants grow in the cracks between massive concrete slabs. Always there is hope. Always there are those hundreds and thousands of seeds spread by each step of the sower in the great field, and only one out every so many millions needs to take root and bloom.

Ezra and I are in a flurry of Spring production, remixing and repurposing the living and working spaces of the household as we paint lintels and repaint walls and fix holes and shit. I'm about to primer up a big old chunk of the living room walls, baseboards, etc. Did some patches over emergency areas where lead paint had become exposed by the bubbling and peeling of a bad paint job. It falls to me to roll up my sleeves and shake the rust from my painting techniques and senses, coinciding with my own rekindled desire to get seriously into representative media.

Our stockpile of artistically omnviorous materials grows every day. Soon we will have the kind of silo acting as optimal springboard to carefree, confident explorations in the production of collage, sculpture, craft, and design projects of any description that suits our whim. Having enough stuff to go ditty-balls bachoingo is important and experiencing that necessity galvanizing; I am not only saving portions of my own trash and recycling that I haven't given myself permission to in a long time, but actively salvaging from the street and the flotsam of my peers.

Dudes, yes, I think I can say it. I feel better than I have since the advent of autumn last year.

Dang. That was rough. Thank god for feeling like this now, even if it's bad again tomorrow or the next week. It's good enough to feel ok and mean it.

Whew!

Also, hey. 424. What a fucking classing crop of numbers we've had lately here on Factually Pointless, thanks to the natural progression of positive whole integers.
